The experience

The tour starts at 9 am with pickup from your Cairo or Giza hotel. The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is the first museum worldwide to present a comprehensive view of Egyptian civilization across its entire history. The main exhibition hall focuses on four crafts that shaped the civilization: pottery, wood, textiles and ornaments. You'll see the oldest prosthetic toe ever discovered, a skeleton dating back 30,000 years, the Kaaba Cover (kiswaa Al kaaba) (the last one made in Egypt during President Nasser's time), and the Mahmal, which once carried the cover from Egypt to Saudi Arabia each year in a grand parade.

After the museum, you board a traditional felucca for a one-hour sail along the Nile. The boat is a wooden sailing vessel. If wind or air conditions make sailing impractical, a motorboat replaces it at no extra charge. You can take the ride during the day to enjoy the sun or in the evening to see Cairo's nightlife from the water. Once the ride ends, your guide transfers you back to your hotel.

The full experience runs about six hours. A bottle of water is provided throughout the day. You can choose the tour without lunch or add lunch at a local Egyptian restaurant at checkout.
