The experience
Three nights aboard a 5-star cruise means you wake each morning on the Nile with a new stretch of river ahead. Day one starts in Aswan with the High Dam (a modern engineering landmark that controls the river's flow), and Philae Temple, relocated to higher ground after the dam's construction. The ship then sails north, and you settle into your private cabin with full amenities and views across the water.
Day two brings Kom Ombo Temple, a rare double temple built for two gods (Sobek the crocodile and Horus the falcon) with a symmetrical design that mirrors their shared worship. The cruise continues to Edfu, where day three opens with the Temple of Horus, one of Egypt's best-preserved ancient structures, its pylons and inner halls still vivid with carved reliefs. That afternoon, you reach Luxor and tour Luxor Temple on the east bank, built around 1400 BC as a ceremonial center linked to royal renewal festivals.
Day four is the Luxor West Bank: the Colossi of Memnon, two 60-foot statues guarding what remains of a pharaoh's mortuary temple; the Valley of the Kings, where New Kingdom pharaohs including Tutankhamun lie buried in tombs carved into desert rock; and the Temple of Hatshepsut, a terraced mortuary temple built into the Theban cliffs for Egypt's most powerful female pharaoh. The day ends at Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built in ancient Egypt, its Great Hypostyle Hall alone containing 134 colossal columns. All transfers between sites use private air-conditioned vehicles, and a knowledgeable Travel Director and driver remain available around the clock.
