The experience
The cruise departs Aswan on guaranteed Monday, Wednesday or Friday departures, picking you up from your hotel or airport and transferring you to the 5-star Nile cruise ship. On your arrival day you'll visit Philae Temple, the island sanctuary of the goddess Isis reached by motorboat. Over the next three days you'll sail downriver, stopping at temples built by ancient pharaohs: Kom Ombo Temple stands on high ground with a double entrance dedicated to the crocodile-headed god Sobek and the falcon-headed Horus; Edfu Temple, considered the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt, was built to honor Horus; and the massive Karnak Temple complex features the avenue of sphinxes of Ramses II, a hypostyle hall with 134 columns, and the largest lake of ancient Egypt.
All entry fees to these sites are included upfront: no hidden costs and no queuing at ticket windows. Your guide is a licensed Egyptologist who leads excursions in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Russian, your choice. You sleep aboard the cruise each night in a 5-star cabin with full-board meals included. On the final morning in Luxor, you'll visit the Valley of the Kings to see the pharaohs' tombs with their preserved wall colors, Hatshepsut Temple built by the queen who ruled Egypt alone for twenty years, and the Colossi of Memnon, the remains of Amenhotep III's mortuary temple. The tour ends by 2pm with a transfer to Luxor airport or railway station.
The itinerary is fixed to fit the major sites into four days, so the pace is set by the cruise schedule and the guided stops rather than by your own choices. If you want to add the Abu Simbel Temples or a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings, those are available as paid add-ons. Room assignments depend on your booking: traveling as a couple or single gives you a double or single cabin, while groups of three share a triple room unless you book separate single cabins.
