The experience
The Agroturistic Estate Cumandá sits outside Guayaquil and walks you through the entire cocoa-to-chocolate pipeline, from the moment seeds go in the ground through harvest and production. You're not watching a demonstration. You're learning the steps yourself, seeing how Ecuadorian chocolate actually gets made. The farm's guide explains the process in English or Spanish as you move through the cultivation areas.
After the tour of the fields and processing, you move into the kitchen for a cooking class where you prepare a typical handmade lunch together. You make it, then sit down and eat what you've cooked. Private transport collects you from your hotel at the start and brings you back when the class ends, so the only logistics you handle is being ready to leave.
The whole experience runs about four hours. The farm accommodates all fitness levels, and if you're traveling with infants or small children, they can come along in a pram or stroller. Service animals are welcome too.
What’s included
- Private hotel pickup and return transport.
- full tour of cocoa cultivation and chocolate production at the farm.
- hands-on cooking class where you prepare a typical lunch.
- the meal you've made together.
