The Experience
The first thing I noticed was the earthy smell of wet leaves as we stepped out of the van. Our guide handed out helmets and life jackets—no fuss, just quick checks—and off we went into the forest. The path was a bit muddy in spots (my sneakers definitely got a workout), but the shade from the trees kept things cool even though it was late morning. Every so often, you’d hear birds calling or spot a flash of green lizard darting across the trail.
After about twenty minutes, we reached the first waterfall. The sound of rushing water grew louder before we saw it—then suddenly there it was, clear pools and smooth rocks shaped by years of flow. Our guide explained how each fall had its own story; he pointed to a spot where locals sometimes gather on weekends. We took turns sliding down natural chutes into chilly water that woke me right up. There’s an option to jump from different heights—some folks cheered each other on while others just floated in the pools. Lunch after felt well-earned; I remember the grilled chicken had this smoky flavor you only get when it’s cooked outside.
