The experience

You arrive 15 minutes before departure for check-in and individual Segway training on a spacious practice ground: the operator promises it's easy, and you'll get comfortable before the route starts. Once you're ready, the tour begins along the waterfront in a car-free zone, a setup unique to this operator as Denmark's only officially authorized Segway tour company. Your guide wears a radio headset and so do you, so you hear the stories clearly even while moving. The route passes the Peace Angel sculpture within the first stretch, then reaches the Little Mermaid statue within 5 minutes of take-off, where you stop for photos.

From there the tour moves through Toldboden, the old customs district still lined with maritime history, past the Royal Danish Cast Museum and toward the waterfront. You cruise along Holmen, where your guide points out warships docked at the Maritime Museum (you stay on your side of the water), then reach Ofelia Square, a local hangout where the guide may let you test your speed if there's space. The Opera House sits across the water, but you get your photo from the square with it in the background. Kongens Nytorv marks the halfway point, and then you head toward Amalienborg Palace, where you ride right up to the square in front of the Queen's residence and see the lifeguards. The Citadel comes next (a 1600s military site you cruise through) followed by the English Church, the Gefion fountain, and finally back to the starting point.

When you return, you hand in your radio, helmet and Segway, then stay for a complimentary organic beverage with a view of the waterfront. Your guide gives you a Segway souvenir to take home. The tour runs in all weather. The operator provides a rain poncho if needed and reserves the right to cancel only in extreme conditions, aiming to rebook you on the next available slot.
