Discover Scuba Diving in Protaras is a PADI-certified first dive for beginners at Green Bay, led by an English-, Swedish- or Turkish-speaking instructor in groups kept small for individual attention. The experience includes eLearning before you arrive, all scuba equipment, DAN diving insurance, complimentary underwater photos and free transfers from selected areas. It lasts 3.5 hours and counts toward the PADI Open Water Diver course if you choose to continue.

The experience

The dive starts on shore with a safety briefing and shallow-water training where your PADI instructor teaches the essential skills (how to breathe, equalize pressure, and move underwater) before you leave the shallows. Once you're comfortable, you descend into Green Bay's calm, crystal-clear waters to a maximum depth of 6 metres. The site is known for underwater statues, schools of colourful Mediterranean fish, and occasional sea turtle sightings, though wildlife encounters are never guaranteed.

Dive Cypria keeps groups small so you get plenty of one-on-one attention rather than being rushed through the motions. Your PADI Professional Instructor stays with you throughout, and the relaxed pace means you can focus on the feeling of breathing underwater instead of managing anxiety. All scuba equipment is provided (tank, wetsuit, mask, fins and buoyancy control device), so you arrive with nothing but your swimsuit and your willingness to try.

The eLearning module you complete before arrival covers the theory, so your time in the water is spent practicing and exploring rather than sitting through a classroom session. Complimentary underwater photos capture your first moments below the surface. If you decide you want to continue, this dive counts as the first open-water dive toward the PADI Open Water Diver certification, so you're not starting from scratch if you book the full course later. Free transfers from selected areas in Protaras mean you don't arrange your own transport to Green Bay.

What exactly happens during the safety briefing before I enter the water?

Your PADI instructor covers essential scuba skills in the shallow water near shore: how to breathe through the regulator, clear water from your mask, and control your descent and ascent. You practice these skills in the shallows until you feel confident, then move to deeper water once your instructor is satisfied you're ready.

Can I see sea turtles at Green Bay?

Sea turtles are known to inhabit Green Bay and sightings do happen, but they are wild animals and encounters cannot be guaranteed. The site is also home to colourful Mediterranean fish and underwater statues, so there is plenty to see regardless.

What's included in the price, and what do I need to bring?
