Scuba diving at Green Bay Beach in Protaras, Cyprus, where you descend into a local cove with a guide, all equipment provided, and hotel pickup included. The dive covers three hours total and takes you to Fish Rock to feed fish and to submerged Ancient Greek statues where you can pose for photos and video. You'll start in standing-depth water to learn techniques before dropping deeper, with a chance to spot turtles.

The experience

The dive starts at your hotel with complimentary pickup and drop-off. At the dive centre, you'll go through a safety briefing and learn how to use the equipment before heading to Green Bay, a local cove just offshore. You enter the water in standing depth, shallow enough to stand, where the guide teaches you the techniques and skills you'll use for the deeper dive. This is where you get comfortable with breathing underwater and moving weightless in the water.

Once you're ready, you drop down into the cove. The water is clear enough to see the marine life around you: Fish Rock is your first stop, where you feed the fish by hand. From there, the guide leads you to the Ancient Greek statues resting on the seabed, and you pose with them while the guide takes photos and videos. The whole experience runs about three hours from pickup to return. Back at the dive centre, you'll review all the photos and videos before heading back to your hotel.

Children from age 8 can join, and the dive centre is wheelchair accessible. You'll need a moderate level of fitness for the activity. The operator notes it's not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnancy. Bring your own water, the centre doesn't provide it, and plan to tip your guide separately if the service warrants it.
