The Experience

You ride your own ATV—not a passenger on a bus tour. The adventure starts near the cruise terminal with a safety briefing and gear check: helmet, goggles and a face scarf come with you. From there the route heads into St. Michiel and the Flamingo Sanctuary, then pushes deeper into the Bullenbaai backcountry, where dusty trails wind through cactus-covered landscapes and rocky terrain that most visitors never see. A local guide leads the group through the rugged countryside toward Williwood, one of Curaçao's most distinctive communities, with stops for photos and to watch iguanas up close during feeding time at a station near Kokomo Beach.

The second half of the ride takes you across the island's interior via the Tera Kòrá backcountry trail, passing wind turbines and panoramic countryside views as the route heads east toward Hato. The terrain shifts between open island vistas and tighter off-road sections, and the guide points out the landscape and local knowledge as you go. The ride finishes at Playa Porto Mari, where you can swim in the clear water and rest after the five-hour adventure. Snorkeling gear is available to rent on-site if you want to explore the reef.

Pickup is included from near the Renaissance and cruise terminal, so you don't arrange transport separately. The group stays small—not a traditional bus tour—which means tighter control of the pace and more flexibility to stop for photos or questions. The activity suits all fitness levels, and children are welcome from age 15 onward, making it workable for families and cruise passengers with a few hours between ship time.
