The Experience

The boat leaves Split heading north along the Dalmatian coast toward Trogir, and you've got free time once you arrive to walk the UNESCO old town on your own—the narrow streets, the cathedral, a coffee by the water if you want it. Most people spend an hour there, moving at their own pace, which is the thing that makes this half-day tour work: you're not herded through a checklist.

After Trogir, the speedboat takes you to the Underwater Museum on Čiovo, where the real draw is snorkeling around submerged statues and a military plane (a Soko Jastreb J-21) sitting on the seafloor. The water is clear enough that you can see it from the surface, and the equipment is included—mask, fins, snorkel. If snorkeling isn't your thing, there's a waterpark and a beach bar right there, so you can sit it out. Weather and operational conditions sometimes mean this stop gets swapped for an alternative site on Šolta or Čiovo, but the snorkeling part is the same idea.

The last stop is the Blue Lagoon, and this is where you actually get time to swim and just be—no schedule pushing you along. The water is the color people come to Croatia for, and the beach bar floats nearby if you want a drink.
