The Experience

You're in Dubrovnik, and Montenegro is right there—close enough that you can slip across the border in the morning and be back before dinner. Tivat itself used to be a Yugoslav naval base, then got reborn as a luxury marina town in the early 2000s, all Porto Montenegro yacht clubs and waterfront restaurants next to the older town center. You have time to walk the promenade, grab lunch if you're hungry, or just sit with a coffee and watch the water. Then comes the ferry crossing back to Croatia, a 15-minute ride where you can stand outside and photograph the bay one more time, the little villages of Lepetane and Kamenari sliding past below you.

The whole day runs from morning to late afternoon, and you're back in Dubrovnik before the light goes. Your driver speaks English the whole way and knows where to linger and where to move on. Ferry ticket and entry to Kotor Old Town are already included, so there's no stopping at a booth or figuring out what costs extra. If you're traveling with an infant, specialized seats are available.
