The experience

You start in Medulin and spend the first 1 hour 45 minutes cruising through the archipelago: small islands and rocky outcrops where a guide points out the local coast and wildlife. The boat then reaches the Blue Cave, where you have an hour to swim and snorkel in water so clear you can see the seabed. The cave itself is the largest in this part of Croatia, and the stop is built around getting in the water rather than just looking.

After the cave, the route follows the coast toward Cres, passing the historic Hrid Zaglav Lighthouse (visible from the water, not a landing). Lunch arrives while you're cruising: grilled mackerel, chicken, tuna steak or a vegetarian plate, with cabbage salad and ciabatta bread, plus Mušković wine, beer, sodas and water. The welcome drink is a local schnaps.

The boat anchors in Cres town for two hours. You can wander the quaint streets, browse local shops, find a nearby beach or simply sit. A guide is on hand if you want a walking tour of the island, but the time is yours to spend as you choose. On the return to Medulin, keep watch for dolphins. The area is known for them, though sightings are not guaranteed. The full day runs 9 hours from pickup to drop-off.
