Medulin Archipelago Boat Tour: Swim Kamenjak, Porer Lighthouse
Six hours on the water: a cave dive, a lighthouse you can't reach by land, and a full afternoon on sand
A private boat tour of the Medulin archipelago carries up to 40 passengers to Kamenjak National Park for swimming and a dive into Golumbera cave, then past Porer lighthouse (built 1846, perched on an 80-meter cliff) and smaller isles before a two-hour beach break on Levan Island. The tour includes lunch, soft drinks, sightseeing and a captain-led route that changes if weather or sea conditions demand it.
Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Medulin archipelago by boat
- Board private boat in Pula
- Sail to Kamenjak National Park
- Swim and explore Golumbera cave
- Sail near Porer lighthouse for photos
- Enjoy lunch while sightseeing isles
- Relax and sunbathe on Levan Island
The Experience
The boat leaves with a guide who speaks English, Italian or German, and the first stop is Kamenjak National Park, where you swim in water clear enough to see the cliffs above you. A guide accompanies anyone diving into Golumbera cave—a hidden chamber carved into the rock—and the rest of the time is yours: jump from the boat, explore the water, or stay aboard and watch the fish. The cave and the cliffs are the kind of thing you cannot see from shore.
After Kamenjak, the boat sails slowly past Porer lighthouse, a 35-meter tower standing on a rocky islet 2.5 kilometers offshore. The captain cannot dock—the islet is a 80-meter cliff—but steers as close as the boat can go so you can photograph it. Between Kamenjak and Levan, lunch arrives while you're sightseeing smaller islands (Bodulaš, Ceja, Finera) and hidden coves. Drinks are included; if you want cocktails or anything else, Levan Island has three beach bars and restaurants when you get there.
Levan is the only sandy island in the group, and you get two uninterrupted hours on it. The water is shallow and clear. Beach umbrellas and lounge chairs are available to rent on the island if you want them. The tour runs six hours total. If the sea roughens or weather turns, the captain has the authority to change the route or cancel for safety—that decision is theirs alone.

Is this one for you?Book this tour if you want to swim in a sea cave and see a lighthouse from the water—two things you cannot do from shore. The six-hour route and the 40-person limit mean the boat stays long enough at each stop to actually explore, not just pass by.

What's the swimming like on this tour?
You swim at Kamenjak National Park in water deep enough to dive into Golumbera cave with a guide, then spend two hours on Levan Island's sandy beach in shallow, clear water. Both stops are included.
Can we actually get close to Porer lighthouse?
Porer lighthouse sits on an 80-meter cliff on a rocky islet 2.5 kilometers from shore, so the boat cannot dock. The captain sails as close as safely possible so you can photograph it and see the 35-meter tower and the stone buildings below it.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The captain decides whether to change the route or cancel the tour based on sea conditions and weather. That decision is made only by the captain for the safety of everyone aboard.
Is lunch included, and what about drinks?
Lunch and soft drinks are included in the tour price. Alcoholic beverages are available only to guests over 18; on Levan Island, you can order cocktails and other drinks at the beach bars and restaurants there.
How many people go on the boat?
The boat holds a maximum of 40 passengers, which keeps the tour intimate and allows the captain to linger at each stop without crowding.
What islands and sites do we visit?
The tour visits Kamenjak National Park (with Golumbera cave), Porer lighthouse, several smaller islands (Bodulaš, Ceja, Finera) and hidden coves, then finishes with a two-hour break on Levan Island, the only sandy island in the archipelago.
