The experience
If you have a free afternoon in Jaco, this combines two separate adventures into five hours. You start with canyoning: a 15 to 20-minute hike leads to the top of the waterfalls, then you rappel down three of them, swimming in the pools between descents. The rainforest sits deep around you the whole time. After that, a tractor ride takes you up the mountain to the zipline platform, where the actual descent begins.
The zipline section runs across 10 cables strung between 12 platforms. One cable stretches over 500 meters: long enough that you can see the ocean from the middle of it. State-of-the-art safety gear comes with you, fitted and checked by the guides before you clip in. The guides are bilingual, certified, and they manage both the canyoning and the zipline portions, so you move through the day with the same team. After both activities, fresh watermelon and pineapple wait at the bottom to refuel you.
The location matters: Vista Los Suenos sits only 10 minutes from Jaco Beach, so if you're staying in town or at Los Suenos Resort, the travel time is short. Your clothes and shoes will get wet during the canyoning portion. Bring a change or plan to dry out afterward. This is an extreme adventure, so the operator flags it clearly: you need high physical fitness, a real sense of adventure, and comfort with heights and water. Spinal injuries, pregnancy and poor cardiovascular health are contraindications the guides take seriously.
