The experience

La Fortuna's cooking class starts in a kitchen where a local chef walks you through preparing authentic Costa Rican dishes using fresh, natural ingredients. You'll learn techniques and flavors you can recreate at home, and the class is designed so you get to know other travelers while you work. The whole group cooks together, which means you're not watching a demonstration. You're handling the food, tasting as you go, and building something you'll actually eat.

Once the cooking is done, you sit down to the meal you just made. This is where the evening shifts from learning to sharing: you eat together, talk about Costa Rican culture and the concept of "Pura Vida," and digest what you've created. The air-conditioned vehicle and WiFi are included, so the logistics are handled before you arrive.

After dinner, you move to the dance floor to learn salsa, merengue, cumbia and bachata from your guide. This is not a performance you watch. You're on your feet learning the steps and rhythms of Latin music. The class wraps up after the dancing, and pickup back to your hotel is included in the price.
