The Experience
The tour starts the moment you land: your guide meets you at San Jose del Guaviare airport or bus terminal, takes you to the hotel to drop bags, then heads straight to Cerro Azul for the rock route. That first walk covers about 4 kilometers through indigenous rock paintings more than 10,000 years old. The murals are the draw here, carved into stone and left to interpret. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included that day, as they are every day of the tour.
Day two moves to the Guayabero River and Angosturas II, a narrowing in the canyon surrounded by Amazonian forest. The raudal route is another 6-kilometer walk that brings you to the river's edge, where you see both the rock art and the landscape at once: 360 degrees of green with the river cutting through it. The Orion route on day three covers about 5 kilometers of Cretaceous-period rock formations and ends in savanna with clear water and aquatic plants. The order of the three routes can shift depending on weather and how the groups combine, but all three happen inside the three days.
Your guide speaks Spanish and is included in the price. Transport between all sites, hotel nights and every meal are covered. If your group reaches at least 14 people on the same package, an optional evening with the Tukano indigenous community can be arranged. Ask when you book. A bilingual guide in English or French is available for an additional fee if you need one.

What are the rock paintings at Cerro Azul?
Cerro Azul holds indigenous rock murals over 10,000 years old carved into stone faces along the route. The paintings are the main draw of the first day's 4-kilometer walk, and interpreting their meaning is part of what makes the site distinctive.
How much walking is involved each day?
The rock route at Cerro Azul is about 4 kilometers, the raudal route along the Guayabero River is about 6 kilometers, and the Orion route through rock formations is about 5 kilometers. All three are day walks with your guide, and the operator notes you should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness.
What happens if I arrive late or need to leave early?
Your guide meets you at the airport or bus terminal whenever you arrive, so the timing is flexible on day one. On day three, you check out of the hotel when you leave for the Orion route, and if you have a flight, the guide takes you directly to the airport after the walk.
Is the Tukano community evening included?
The indigenous evening with the Tukano community is optional and requires a minimum of 14 people on the same package to run. Ask about it when you book if you are interested in participating.
What kind of accommodation is included?
Hotel stays for two nights are included in the price. The operator has multiple hotel options available and can show you the choices when you book. A rural accommodation option may also be available in 2026.
