How do you get from Yangshuo to the rice terraces without renting a car? Your driver picks you up from your hotel, Yangshuo Railway Station, Xingping Town, or any location within 20 kilometers of Yangshuo at 9:00 am (or a time you choose), then drives 2.5 hours to Longji. The route includes a stop at the parking lot where you can buy entry to the scenic area and take a short break before heading to Ping'an Terraces, the most photographed section of the mountains.

Once at Ping'an, you walk up stone stairs to Platform No. 1 (or take an electric golf cart if you prefer to skip the climb), and stand in front of the full panorama of the terraces. From there, a flat path leads you to Platform No. 2, passing through bamboo groves and past the wooden houses where Zhuang people live and work among the rice paddies. Platform No. 2 is where you see the "Seven Stars with the Moon" formation, the iconic arrangement of peaks and water that makes these terraces distinctive. You move at your own pace and stop as long as you want. The driver waits at the base.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you visit Huangluo Honghair Village, where women of the Yao ethnic minority maintain the tradition of growing their hair long and wearing it wrapped in elaborate styles. You walk through the village and see how daily life unfolds there. The return drive to Yangshuo takes 2.5 hours, and you arrive back at your hotel around 6:00 pm. Note that during China's National Holiday periods, the itinerary may skip Honghair Village to avoid crowds and traffic.
