The Experience
You board the Buccaneer, a 50-foot catamaran built for comfort in open water, and head out into the North Sound. The first 30 minutes gets you to the Coral Garden, where you mask up and drop into shallow water to watch tropical fish move through the coral and stingrays glide past. The reef is the warm-up; the real bucket-list moment comes next.
A 10-minute ride takes you to Stingray City Sandbar, the reason most people book this tour. You wade onto a sandbar where dozens of stingrays gather in waist-deep water—they're accustomed to visitors and curious rather than aggressive. This is the stop that photographs well and stays in memory. After you've had your time there, the boat heads to Starfish Point, about 12 minutes away, where you walk the shallow Caribbean waters to spot and photograph the bright orange starfish scattered across the sandy bottom and beach.
The return to the marina takes another 30 minutes. Throughout the day, the catamaran's design keeps the motion gentle; the operator built this boat specifically so the Caribbean swell doesn't turn the experience into a fight against nausea. Snorkel gear, life vests, fruit punch, soda and bottled water are all included, and the guide handles the route and the timing so you show up and the day unfolds.

What's the water like at Stingray City Sandbar?
Stingray City sits in waist-deep water on a sandbar in the North Sound. The stingrays are habituated to human visitors and gather there regularly; you stand on the sand and they move around you in the shallow water.
Do I need snorkeling experience to do this tour?
No. The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels, and snorkel gear is provided. The reef and Starfish Point are in shallow water, and the guide will gear you up and show you how to use the equipment.
How long is the boat ride out to the reef?
The trip from the marina to the Coral Garden takes 30 minutes. From there, Stingray City is 10 minutes away, and Starfish Point is another 12 minutes, with a 30-minute return to the marina at the end.
What if the weather is rough that day?
The tour requires safe weather and sea conditions to proceed. If the tour is cancelled due to poor weather or unsafe conditions, you'll be offered a different date, time or vessel, or a full refund.
Is the catamaran stable in waves?
Yes. The Buccaneer is a 50-foot sailing catamaran designed to be stable and comfortable in Caribbean swells, which is why the operator built it this way—to keep the motion gentle and reduce seasickness.
What's included in the tour price?
Snorkel equipment, life vests, fruit punch, soda, bottled water, use of the restroom on board and pickup are all included. The guide is live and speaks English and Spanish.
