The experience

I honestly didn’t expect to laugh so much with a stingray pressed up against my chest, but that’s what happened at Stingray City, just off Grand Cayman. Our guide, Marcus, was already in the water waving us over, grinning like he knew a secret. The water was warm and clear enough to see my own toes (and the rays gliding in like friendly shadows). He handed me a piece of squid and suddenly there it was (soft, cool, almost slippery) the stingray’s mouth gently sucking it right from my palm. I flinched and everyone cracked up.
