The experience
The hike starts at the trailhead and climbs through a mature deciduous forest toward the Niagara Escarpment. The route into Singhampton Caves is fixed at 2.5km, so every hiker sees the main caves and the lookout over Pretty River Valley toward distant Georgian Bay. Because the caves are open to the sky, you won't squeeze through tight passages. The walls are tall and the space is grand. Along the way you'll spot smaller crevices to explore if you want to poke around.
What sets this tour apart is the return. Your guide customizes the way back based on what you're after: four different routes range from 2.0km to 3.5km, some emphasizing scenic overlooks and others offering more cave and crevice hunting. You're not locked into a set itinerary. You choose the adventure that fits your energy and interests. The guide carries a headlamp and provides crampons in spring and fall when the rocks are slick.
After the hike, the hamlet of Singhampton has two casual options within reach: Mylar & Loretta's Restaurant, housed in a historic building, or the Duntroon Cyder House and Farm if you want something more low-key. Your guide will send you a Google photo album with pictures, videos and a reel from the day once you're done.

What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
How long does the hike into Singhampton Caves actually take?
The full hike, including the 2.5km walk in and your chosen return route, runs about three hours. The descent varies depending on which of the four return trails you pick, so the total distance ranges from roughly 4.5km to 5.5km.
What's the difference between Singhampton Caves and Nottawasaga Bluffs if I'm choosing between them?
Singhampton Caves have taller walls and more numerous open caves, making them feel more grand. Nottawasaga Bluffs has fewer main caves but offers more closed underground spaces and a larger lookout point if you prefer that kind of exploration.
Do I need special gear or training for this hike?
Closed-toe shoes, water and snacks are required. Crampons (spikes that slip onto your boots) are provided in spring and fall when the rocks are wet. You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. The hike involves sustained climbing on the escarpment.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my tour?
Contact the operator at stepitupadventures.ca for their weather policy and any rescheduling options. The caves themselves are open to the sky, so rain will affect the hike.
