The Experience

You arrive at Between the Lines Winery and head to one of the tasting bars — either in the Wine Cellar or overlooking the Vineyard, depending on what's available for your time. A private host walks you through four wine tastings, each paired with a selection that includes three artisan cheeses, charcuterie from Smoke and Barrel Niagara, roasted nuts, dried fruit and cracked wheat crackers. The tasting lasts 45 minutes and is built around what the two brothers who own the winery — Greg and Yannick Wertsch — call their vision: challenging the boundaries of Niagara winemaking with a dynamic experience.

This is a seated tasting, not a walking tour of the property. If you want to see the winery grounds and learn how the wines are made, that's a separate experience they offer. What you're here to do is taste and eat, with someone who knows the wines answering questions as you go. The host is English-speaking; if you need another language, call ahead to arrange it.

You'll need to drive yourself or arrange a ride to get there — the winery doesn't provide transportation.
