Zip across a thousand feet of forest, then paddle through caves you navigate yourself

The full day runs 11 hours from pickup to return.

The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup on Ambergris Caye and a water taxi crossing to Belize City, then a minivan drive through the city and rural communities to No Hoch Cheen park, arriving around 11am. You suit up with helmet, jacket and lights, then zip on lines up to 1000 feet long over the forest and river. The guide handles the gear setup and safety checks. After the zipline runs, you walk 25 minutes through the forest to the cave entrance.

Once at the caves, you board single or tandem kayaks and paddle through a network of cave passages for three hours, navigating past vast rock formations and paddling through crystal clear spring-fed water. A small waterfall marks part of the route. The kayaking continues downstream for 20 minutes until you reach the parking area. Lunch (rice and beans with stew chicken, vegetable coleslaw, and a breakfast sandwich) happens here before the one-hour drive to the boat dock.

The return is a one-hour boat ride back to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, arriving around 4:40pm. If water levels run high for kayaking, you can reschedule or swap the cave paddle for tubing instead. Bring swimwear, a towel, thick-soled tennis shoes for the pebble paths and river crossings, and a camera or GoPro if you want footage. Crocs are available to rent at the park.
