Four caves, a jungle hike, underground waterfalls, and a cliff jump into crystal water

A 4-cave tubing activity in Belize combines a 35-minute jungle hike with floating through the second-largest cave system, climbing underground waterfalls in Crystal Cave, and swimming or cliff jumping into pristine waters. A professional guide shares the history of the caves and Mayan culture as you drift through chambers lit by headlamp, then return by open river tubing with a short walk back to the parking lot.

The experience

The day starts with a 35-minute hike through jungle to reach the cave entrance. Once there, you climb into an inner tube and float into the first of four caves within Belize's second-largest cave system. Your guide, fluent in English or Spanish, narrates the geology and Mayan history as your headlamp cuts through the darkness and you drift past underground chambers. The caves are the draw here, not a quick float-through, but a route designed to show you what most tours skip: hidden passages and the scale of the system itself.

Crystal Cave is where the activity shifts. You'll climb out of your tube and scramble up underground waterfalls, exploring crystal-lined chambers before deciding whether to swim or cliff jump into the crystalline pool below. This is the moment the tour builds toward: the choice to push past comfort, the cold water, the echo of the cave around you. After, you're back on the tube for the final stretch: open river tubing through a tropical garden and a 3-minute walk to the parking lot.

The whole experience runs 4.5 hours. Lunch, a helmet, life vest, headlamp, and a first aid kit are included. The guide is certified and parking fees are covered. You'll need at least moderate fitness (the jungle hike and the climbing demand it), and a weight limit of 295 pounds applies. Children from age 6 can join.

Is this one for you?Book this if you have a half-day free and want to move beyond a passive float: the jungle hike and the climbing through Crystal Cave demand moderate fitness, but they're what separate this from a standard cave tour and what make the cliff jump and crystal pool feel earned.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Spanish.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Youth (6 to 17 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What is Crystal Cave and what do you do there?

Crystal Cave is a chamber within the second-largest cave system where you exit your tube to climb underground waterfalls and explore crystal-lined passages before swimming or cliff jumping into pristine water.

How much of the day is spent actually in the caves versus hiking or traveling?

The 35-minute jungle hike gets you to the entrance, then you spend the bulk of the 4.5-hour activity floating and climbing through the four caves and the open river section, with a short 3-minute walk back at the end.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer to do this?

You'll need at least moderate physical fitness for the jungle hike and climbing underwater waterfalls, but swimming ability is not the limiting factor: the cliff jump and water sections are optional, and you're in an inner tube for most of the float.

What happens if I don't want to cliff jump?

Cliff jumping is optional. You can swim into the crystal pool instead, so you control how much risk you take at that moment.
