The experience
Can you actually rappel down a waterfall and then zipline above a jungle in one day? Yes, and the sequence matters. You start with a one-hour drive from Placencia to Mayflower National Park, a 7,100-acre reserve of rainforest, waterfalls and Mayan sites. A 20-minute hike along the jungle trail gets you to the top of Bocawina Falls, where your guide explains the ecosystem as you climb. Then you suit up in a harness and rappel 100 feet straight down the waterfall face into the pool below, where you swim before heading back down the trail.
After lunch at Wild Fig Restaurant, you gear up for the zipline section: seven lines strung through the canopy, including the longest ziprun in Belize. You're harnessed the whole time, moving from platform to platform high above the jungle floor. The views are the point: bird's-eye angles of the rainforest that you don't get from the ground. All equipment, water, lunch and transport are included. Your guide speaks English or Spanish and stays with you the entire day.

Is this one for you?The activity involves water entry, scrambling and sustained physical effort over seven hours, so it suits travelers with moderate fitness who are comfortable rappelling and ziplining. Early start and a full day of activity mean this is not a half-day option. You commit to the whole sequence to get both the waterfall and the canopy.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the 100-foot rappel down Bocawina Falls actually like?
You descend the waterfall face on a rope, lowering yourself under control while water flows around you, then drop into the pool at the base. It's the centerpiece of the day. The rappel happens after the hike but before the ziplines.
How long is the hike to the top of the waterfall?
The hike is 20 minutes along an undulating jungle trail. It's not a long walk, but the terrain is uneven and your guide uses it to teach you about the rainforest on the way up.
What does the seven-zipline section involve?
You move between platforms suspended in the canopy on seven separate lines, with the longest run in Belize among them. You stay harnessed throughout and the lines take you high above the jungle below.
Is pickup from my hotel included?
Yes, pickup from Placencia hotels is included. The full activity takes about seven hours, starting with a one-hour drive to Mayflower National Park.
What should I bring or wear?
Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet. You'll be in the waterfall pool and the jungle is humid. Bring a change of clothes for after. All gear, harnesses and safety equipment are provided.
