Taste six craft beers matched to Belgian chocolate, learning how each pairing works

A beer and chocolate pairing at BRAUW, a small independent brewery in Genk, where you taste six house-brewed beers alongside pralines made locally, guided through the brewing process and flavor combinations. The brewery handles every step of production in-house, and the guide speaks English or Dutch. Minimum age is 16. The experience runs two and a half hours and is wheelchair accessible.

The experience

Six beers and six pralines arrive in sequence, each one chosen to show how the brewery's brewing decisions (the malt, the hops, the fermentation) meet the sweetness, bitterness and texture of chocolate. The guide walks you through what makes each pairing work: why a particular beer's complexity opens up against a specific praline, how the flavors shift on your palate as you move between them. This is not a tasting where you sample and move on. The point is to see the craft behind the match.

BRAUW is a microbrewery that brews everything on-site, which means the beers you taste reflect decisions made in that room: ingredient selection, batch timing, the care that goes into each step. The guide shares that story as you go, explaining the process and the thinking behind these particular brews. The pralines are made in Genk as well, so the pairing is built around what two local makers do, not what fits a standard format.

The experience runs two and a half hours and is wheelchair accessible throughout. A live guide leads the tasting in English or Dutch. You'll need to be at least 16 to attend.
