The route starts with a drive north from Baku through the Caucasian foothills. Your first stop is Mount Beshbarmag, whose five-fingered outline has served as a landmark for sailors for centuries. Behind it lie the ruins of the ancient city of Hursangal. At the mountain's base is Pir Khidir Zundzha, a holy place where travelers traditionally stop. From there the road enters the Qachrash forest, one of Guba's most striking landscapes: a dense woodland where sunlight barely reaches the ground, mountain streams rush down from the Gudyalchay River, and the temperature stays cool even in summer heat.
