The experience
You're collected from your Yulara hotel between 1:30 and 2:30 pm and driven to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. A professional guide leads the Mala Walk along the north-west side of Uluru, where the rock face rises in sheer vertical walls and Anangu rock art marks the stone. Your guide shares dreamtime stories of the Anangu people as you walk the base.
The second walk takes you to Mutitjulu Waterhole, a short track where an ancestral water snake called Wanampi is said to live. Your guide explains how the Anangu people traditionally hunted here and used the caves (some still visited by Anangu alive today), and the rock art they contain. From there you drive around to the back of Uluru and visit the Aboriginal Cultural Centre, built with 90,000 mud bricks on a sacred site. You'll have time to learn about the Pitjantjatjara people and browse local crafts.
As the sun sets, you gather at the base of Uluru for a BBQ dinner with a glass of sparkling wine. The tour ends at your hotel after dark. Air-conditioned transport, two accredited guides, and all walks are included. Bring the national park pass (digital copy accepted from April 2026) or purchase it on arrival.
