Step-by-step itinerary
Yarra Valley wine, gin, and lunch tour
- Guided tasting at Domaine Chandon
- Lunch and wine tasting at Soumah AI FIORI Trattoria
- Tasting paddle at Four Pillars Gin
- Wild kangaroo viewing at Heritage Golf Club
The experience
Domaine Chandon opens the day with a guided tasting of sparkling wines set against rolling vineyard views. A wine specialist walks you through the méthode traditionnelle and the cool-climate elegance that defines the Yarra Valley's style, then you move on without the usual cellar-door crowd.
Lunch at Soumah's AI Fiori Trattoria is the centerpiece. You start with a shared antipasti board of cured meats, pickled and roasted vegetables, and crostini, then choose from four mains: pork scallopini, grilled barramundi, slow-cooked beef rib ragu, or roasted carrot and parsnip risotto. A glass of wine personally selected from your earlier tasting pairs with the meal, so the day connects from one stop to the next. Northern Italian cooking and local wine in one unhurried sitting.
Four Pillars Gin follows lunch. You sample their award-winning gins in a contemporary space, guided through the botanicals and flavor profiles (bright citrus, warm spice, distinctly modern Australian), while learning how the distillery works. It's relaxed and character-driven, a different pace from wine tasting. On the drive back to Melbourne, the route passes through Heritage Golf and Country Club, where a large mob of wild kangaroos lives on the grounds. The guide slows down and gives you time to photograph them. It's often the most memorable shot of the day.

How many stops do we visit in the Yarra Valley?
