The Experience
The day starts with pickup from a central Sydney hotel at 7am, heading straight to Featherdale Wildlife Park before the crowds arrive. You'll walk among over 2,000 Australian native animals, including more than 60 threatened species the park actively protects. The early access means you see the animals at their most active and have space to move through the exhibits without the midday press.
From there the tour moves to Echo Point Lookout, where the Three Sisters rock formation rises in front of you. Your guide walks you through the Aboriginal Dreamtime legends behind the formation, grounding the geology in the stories that have held it for thousands of years. The lookout sits at the edge of the Blue Mountains Heritage Area, and the view opens across the valley in a way that makes the scale of the place clear.
Scenic World takes up 90 minutes of the day. You choose between the Scenic Railway — a 52-degree incline that is the steepest passenger railway in the world — or the Katoomba Falls Reserve walk with its seven lookouts and 1.5 kilometres of cliff-top bushland. The Skyway glides 270 metres above the rainforest canopy for 720 metres, and the Cableway descends 545 metres into the Jamison Valley. The Walkway is one of Australia's longest elevated rainforest boardwalks. Scenic World runs at your own cost (adult $50, child $40), and your guide can help you navigate which combination fits the time and your pace.
The tour finishes with free time in Leura Village, a pocket of groomed gardens and independent shops, before the return to central Sydney around 5pm. Groups stay small — no more than nine passengers plus the guide — so the day moves at one pace and the guide stays with you throughout.
