Your hotel pickup in central Ushuaia marks the start. The drive southwest along National Route 3 takes you past lakes, lagoons and rivers toward the park, with views of Mount Susana and the historic site where the End of the World Train now runs—a railway built by prison inmates in the early 1900s. A professional guide travels with you the entire way, answering questions as the landscape shifts from open terrain into the park's interior.
About eleven kilometers from Ushuaia, you stop near the Centro Hípico (Riding Club) for panoramic views across the Beagle Channel toward Ushuaia's peninsula and the islands beyond. From there, the route crosses the Pío River and arrives at the End of the World Station. If you've chosen the train option, you board here for a ride through the park's dramatic scenery—waterfalls, forests of Antarctic beech and lenga beech, and mountain slopes. If you're taking the park-only tour, you skip the train and continue by vehicle to Lapataia Bay.
Lapataia Bay is where the road ends and the experience settles. You walk out on a footbridge with views across the water, traces of the indigenous peoples who first lived here, and the sense of standing at the southern terminus of the continent's main highway. The return to Ushuaia follows the same route, arriving back at your hotel after four to five hours total.
