Brazilian Iguazu Falls tour with Macuco Safari boat ride
The boat ride takes you underneath the falls, not just in front of them.
A full-day tour from Puerto Iguazu crosses the Brazilian border to Iguazu National Park, where you walk the viewing walkways and get sprayed by mist at Floriano Fall, then board a boat at Macuco Station for a direct approach to the river. Hotel pickup and drop-off, park entry, an air-conditioned vehicle, and a bilingual guide are included. You'll need a valid passport and must meet Brazil's entry requirements before booking.

The experience
The day starts with hotel pickup and a drive to the Brazilian border, where you'll pass through immigration. A process that can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours depending on the season and crowd. Once you clear customs, the route continues to Iguazu National Park. You show your entrance fee at the gate, then board a bus that carries you to the start of the viewing circuit. The walkways loop through the park for roughly an hour and a half to two hours, giving you panoramic views across the front of the falls and ending at Floriano Fall, where the heavy mist from the cascades reaches you directly.
After the walkways, you board another bus headed to Macuco Station. From there, the route splits: you can ride an open car through the jungle, then either continue on an electric truck or take an optional 15-minute walk to reach the pier. The boat adventure itself is the centerpiece: an open-air ride on the Iguaçu River that brings you close enough to feel the power of the water and the spray. Once you return to the park entrance, the vehicle takes you back to your hotel in Puerto Iguazu.
Bring comfortable shoes, insect repellent, a sunhat, sunscreen and sunglasses. The guide speaks English or Spanish. The order of stops and exact timing can shift based on how long the border crossing takes and where your hotel is located. If you have a flight later that day, let the operator know in advance. You may need separate transport to make your departure on time. Low water levels can affect or cancel some activities.

Is this one for you?Choose this tour if you want to see the falls from both the viewing paths and the river itself. The boat ride is what sets this version apart. It brings you close enough to feel the spray and power of the water, something the walkways alone do not deliver. If you prefer to stay on land and walk the park at your own pace, the classic option without the boat covers the same falls and returns you to your hotel for less.

What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 12 years); Infant (under 4).
Do I need a passport to go on this tour?
Yes, a valid passport is required to cross into Brazil. You'll also need to meet Brazil's entry requirements before booking: citizens of Australia, Canada, the United States, and Japan need a visa. Bring your passport number, nationality, date of birth and the name it's registered under when you reserve.
How long does the border crossing usually take?
Immigration at the Brazilian border can range from half an hour to several hours, depending on the season and how many people are crossing that day. The total tour duration accounts for this variation, which is why the day can run anywhere from 5 to 10 hours.
What happens at Macuco Station before the boat ride?
At Macuco Station, you board an open car that travels through the jungle. You can then either continue on an electric truck or walk an optional 15-minute trail to reach the pier. Both routes end at a terrace with bathrooms, a snack bar and a souvenir shop before you board the boat.
What should I bring on this tour?
Pack comfortable shoes and clothes, insect repellent, a sunhat, sunscreen and sunglasses. Bring water to stay hydrated. If you want to store belongings while on the boat, lockers are available: request them when you book. Remember your passport.
Can I skip the boat ride and just see the falls from the walkways?
Yes. A shared classic tour option covers the park walkways and return to your hotel without the Macuco boat adventure. The boat ride is included in the full tour but can be excluded if you prefer.
