Step-by-step itinerary
Transfer and sightseeing via Ohrid
- Depart from Tirana
- Pass by Elbasan
- Cross border at Kjafasan
- Pass by Struga
- Visit Ohrid for 2 hours
- Pass by Kičevo
- Arrive in Skopje
The experience
This is not a standard transfer: it turns the drive from Tirana to Skopje into a day that centers on Ohrid, a town and lake protected by UNESCO. The route takes nine hours total and crosses through Elbasan and the Kjafasan mountain pass before reaching the lake. Once in Ohrid, you stop driving and walk: through the town's narrow cobbled streets, past Byzantine churches, uphill to Samoil's fortress, and out to St. Jovan Kaneo, a church built on a cliff above the water where the views open across the lake.
The guide meets you in Ohrid and speaks English throughout the walking portion. You choose between a car for one to three passengers or a minivan for four to seven. Both include luggage assistance from the start. The transfer itself is private, so the pace and stops are yours. The route passes through Struga and Kičevo on the way to Skopje, but the real stop (the reason to book this instead of a straight transfer) is Ohrid itself, where you have time to eat by the lake and photograph the town before continuing to your destination.
What’s included
- One-way private transfer in a car or minivan of your choice.
- English-speaking guide for the Ohrid walking tour.
- meet-and-greet service at pickup.
- luggage assistance throughout.
- time to walk the cobbled streets, visit Byzantine churches, climb to Samoil's fortress and reach St. Jovan Kaneo on the cliff.

Is this one for you?Choose the minivan if your group is four or more and wants to travel with all luggage in one vehicle. The car works for smaller parties or solo travelers who prefer a more intimate transfer. Either way, the stop in Ohrid breaks up the drive to Skopje and gives you a half-day in a UNESCO town instead of hours on the road.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly is St. Jovan Kaneo?
St. Jovan Kaneo is a Byzantine church built on a cliff overlooking Lake Ohrid. It is one of the stops on the walking tour and is noted as one of the most picturesque spots in the town for photographs.
Do I need to buy entrance tickets separately?
Yes, entrance tickets to the sites in Ohrid are not included in the transfer price and must be purchased separately if you wish to enter the churches or fortress.
Can I bring luggage if I'm traveling with a group?
Both the car and minivan options include luggage assistance. The minivan seats four to seven passengers and is the better choice if your group has multiple bags. The car fits one to three passengers with their luggage in a single booking.
