The day starts with pickup from your accommodation in Tirana and a drive through rolling hills, villages and open fields to reach Lake Bovilla. The lake sits behind a dam, and the first part of the hike follows the shoreline—your guide points out local plants, wildlife and the cultural history of the area while you walk at an easy pace along the water's edge.
From the lake, the trail climbs toward Gamti Mountain. The ascent takes roughly 40 minutes and includes breaks to rest and take photographs. Each turn in the path opens a new angle on the lake and the mountains beyond it.
