Pickup from Tirana, ingredients and wine included.★ 4.98 (255)3hUS$ 45View › I didn’t expect the road out of Tirana to feel so quick—one minute you’re dodging city traffic, then suddenly it’s just green hills and that thick Albanian silence. Our guide, Arber, had this way of pointing out things without making it feel like a lecture. He told us how Bovilla Lake is where the city gets its water, which made me weirdly careful not to drop any crumbs. The air smelled sharp, almost sweet, with a hint of something I couldn’t place—maybe wild herbs? Or maybe just my own nerves at being somewhere new.
The hike itself wasn’t hard but I definitely felt my legs on those steeper bits. Arber would stop sometimes to show us tiny flowers or point out Dajti Mountain in the distance—he said you could see all the way to Qafshtama if the clouds behaved. There was this moment where we reached a ridge and everything went quiet except for some birds and our own breathing. I tried to take a photo but honestly, it didn’t come close. The lake below looked unreal—like someone spilled blue paint across the rocks.
We ended up at this spot above the water for coffee (they brought a thermos and fruit—simple but somehow perfect). Sitting there with my shoes off, sipping hot coffee while looking over Bovilla Lake… I don’t know, it just felt peaceful in a way that stuck with me after we got back to Tirana. Arber shared a story about his grandfather fishing here before there was even a road. I still think about that view sometimes when city noise gets too loud—you know?
