The Experience

The drive out of Tirana takes 45 minutes, and you spend most of it watching the landscape change—small villages, then fewer houses, then the kind of quiet where you start noticing the shape of the hills. After a short break, the real part starts: a 40-minute walk uphill through the forest toward Bogova Waterfall. Then you drive another 20 kilometers to Osumi Canyon, and this is where the day shifts again. The canyon runs for 26 kilometers total, but you're walking inside it for about two hours with your guide. You'll pass the Kasabashi bridge, a spot locals call "The bride's hole," and the Footprint of Abaz Aliu—a rock formation that's been part of the area's stories for centuries. There are smaller streams and pools scattered through the canyon depending on the water level and weather, and you can swim in some of them. The walls around you are layered stone, the vegetation is thick and green, and the whole thing feels like you've stepped into a different world from the one you left in Tirana that morning.
