The experience

The itinerary opens in Victoria Falls with a two-hour sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, followed by dinner and a drum show at the Boma: a cultural evening combining traditional African food and live music. The next morning brings a guided ground tour of Victoria Falls itself, where the scale of the falls and the mist rising from the gorge become apparent on foot. A helicopter flight option lets you see the falls from above, though that books separately.

Day three shifts to wildlife: you leave at 7 am for Chobe National Park in northern Botswana, spending the full day on a boat cruise and game drive through one of Africa's densest wildlife reserves. The park's river channels and open plains hold elephants, hippos, lions and countless bird species. After sunset you move to Elephant Sands, a 250-kilometer drive (about 3.5 to 4 hours) that includes an afternoon game drive on arrival.

The route then covers 400 kilometers to Maun over 5.5 to 6 hours, passing through national park areas and rural villages where you can interact with locals along the way. Day six in the Okavango Delta (a vast wetland where the Okavango River spreads into the Kalahari Desert) includes mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) and walking safari. The final day offers optional activities before transfer to Maun International Airport, depending on your flight time.
