The experience
The tour opens in Victoria Falls with a two-hour afternoon cruise on the Zambezi River at 4:00 pm, where you see the falls from the water before the sun sets. That evening you attend the Boma Dinner & Drum Show, a traditional meal with live music and entertainment. The next morning brings a two-hour guided walk of the falls themselves (the roar and mist of one of Africa's largest waterfalls) with the option to book a helicopter flight for an aerial view if you want it.
Days three and four center on Chobe National Park in northern Botswana, where you split time between boat cruises along the Chobe River and game drives through the reserve. Chobe holds some of Africa's largest elephant herds, and the river brings hippos, crocodiles and other species to the banks. A morning game drive at 6:00 am catches animals when they're most active. An afternoon cruise at 3:00 pm lets you watch wildlife gathering at the water to escape the heat. You stay at a lodge in the park both nights.
Day five is a 250 km transfer from Chobe to Elephant Sands, a journey of roughly 3.5 to 4 hours. In the afternoon you take a game drive, timing it to return at sunset when elephants and other animals come to the waterhole: the operator calls this a magical moment. Day six is another long drive, this time 400 km to Maun over 5.5 to 6 hours, passing through national parks and rural villages where you may spot ostriches and meet local communities. The final full day is a mokoro safari in the Okavango Delta: you glide silently through narrow waterways in a traditional dugout canoe, watching hippos, crocodiles and elephants along the banks, then take guided walking safaris with trackers who show you animal signs and plants up close. On day eight you transfer to the airport according to your flight time.
