Step-by-step itinerary
Evening stargazing near Victoria Falls
- Travel in safari vehicle to quiet location
- Observe stars, planets, and constellations
- Listen to guide's night sky insights
- Experience wildlife sightings along the way
- Return safely to hotel or lodge
The experience
Two hours in a 4x4 gets you away from the lights and into a quiet spot in Victoria Falls National Park where the night sky opens up. Your guide knows the constellations and planets overhead and shares what you're looking at: the depth and meaning behind what appears as a twinkling field. On clear nights, distant galaxies come into view. The vehicle itself becomes your base: you stop, step out, and spend time looking up with only moonlight and a flashlight to guide you.
The park is unfenced, so wildlife moves through freely. You may encounter animals along the way, which makes this a true bush experience rather than a controlled viewing. Each night is different because sightings are never guaranteed: what you see depends on where the animals are and what the sky offers. After stargazing, your guide returns you safely to your hotel or lodge.
Hot coffee or tea is served during the outing, and fleece sweaters are provided to keep you warm through the night. The guide speaks English, German, French or Spanish depending on your preference.
