The Experience

The boat leaves An Thoi Harbor at 9:30 AM, and by the time you've cast a line off the stern, you're already past the part where you have to think about logistics. Your guide meets you at the dock after pickup from your hotel in Duong Dong or one of the beach areas — Bai Sao, Bai Khem, Bai Truong — and hands you fishing gear. The water is clear enough that you can see down, and it stays that way all day. Recreational fishing happens during the cruise itself, so you're not waiting around for something to happen; you're doing it while the boat moves through the southern Phu Quoc waters.

Around 10 AM you reach Coconut Islet, where the Ocean World marine area sits in turquoise shallows. Most people swim and take photos here, though if you want to go deeper — sea walking on the ocean floor, scuba diving, or exploring the coral park — those cost extra and you arrange them on the spot. The boat gives you time to decide. By noon you're back on board eating Vietnamese lunch: steamed shrimp, ginger caramelized chicken, stir-fried squid, morning glory with garlic, noodles with pork, rice, and fresh fruit. It's real food, not a token meal, and they'll swap dishes for vegetarian if you tell them ahead of time. You eat while the boat cruises, so the view doesn't stop.

The second island — May Rut Trong or Mong Tay, depending on weather — is where the day slows down. White sand, warm water, time to swim or just sit. This is when the free SUP photos happen, and if the weather holds, they send up a Flycam to shoot video. Jet ski, parasailing, and flyboard are available for extra money, but they're optional; plenty of people just float and let the afternoon happen. You leave at 3 PM and cruise back to An Thoi Harbor, then get driven back to your hotel by 5 PM.
