The experience

The tour starts at your port with a guide holding a board with your name, then drives to Ba Na Hills. You take the Guinness World Record cable car (the longest in the world at over 5,000 meters) up to the complex, where the Golden Bridge with its giant stone hands is the centerpiece. Your guide walks you through the Flower Garden, Linh Ung Pagoda, and other sections of the site, positioning you for photos and explaining the history as you go. After descending by cable car, you head to a local restaurant for lunch before the final leg to My Son.

My Son Sanctuary is a UNESCO World Heritage site of Cham temple ruins built between the 4th and 13th centuries. The temples are decorated in bas-relief and constructed without mortar. A building technique your guide will explain as you explore. You have roughly an hour and a half to walk the valley surrounded by jungle, see the Hindu tower-temples, and learn about the Champa Kingdom and its relationship to the site. The guide provides in-depth information on each temple and helps with photography.

The full day runs eight hours from port pickup to return. Water is provided throughout, and the itinerary is built around ship timing, so you don't have to worry about missing your departure. Children from age 5 are welcome, though the walking and heat mean a moderate fitness level helps.
