The tour starts with a briefing, then you ride through central Hanoi to Hoan Kiem Lake, the heart of the city, where your guide explains its place in Hanoi's thousand-year history. From there you stop at St. Joseph's Cathedral (the largest Christian church in the city, built by the French with architecture echoing Notre-Dame de Paris), and the O Quan Chuong Gate, one of only two surviving entrance gates from the old city walls. The guide narrates each stop while you take photos and move on.
The motorbike takes you to the railway street, where houses and coffee shops sit inches from the tracks: a spot that appears in travel photos but feels entirely different when you're standing there. You'll pass Hanoi Flag Town, the city's tallest tower until 1995, and stop at Huu Tiep Lake, also called B-52 Lake, where a piece of a downed American B-52 Stratofortress sits in the water as a remnant of the Vietnam War.
