The experience
The tour starts from your Da Lat accommodation and heads out on mountain roads toward Tuyen Lam Lake, a freshwater lake over 350 hectares with pine-covered hills and turquoise water. From there you ride to Elephant Waterfalls and Pongour Waterfall, one of the biggest in the South of Vietnam. Along the way you stop at a traditional coffee plantation to learn about the growing process and taste the region's special weasel coffee, then visit a silk factory to see how the fabric is made by hand. At each stop, your guide explains what you're seeing and answers questions.
The route includes many smaller stops where you watch daily activities of local people and understand the rhythm of the countryside. You'll learn how rice liquor is made and taste crickets prepared the traditional way. A visit to an authentic minority village rounds out the day, giving you a sense of how people live outside the tourist areas. The full-day pace means you cover a lot of ground, but the motorbike does the work. You're a passenger the whole time.
Protective gear, helmets and insurance are all provided. Your guide handles the bike and the route. You just need to hold on and watch the landscape change. Children from age 6 are welcome. If your accommodation is more than 5 kilometers from the tour's meeting point, there's a 5-dollar surcharge for pickup.

Is this one for you?The full-day length means you see a lot (waterfalls, farms, factories and villages), but it also fills most of your day in Da Lat, so plan accordingly if you want time in the city itself. Riding as a passenger works for anyone age 6 and up, though it's not recommended if you have spinal injuries or cardiovascular concerns.
