The day starts with views of Da Lat city itself before heading out into the countryside on motorbike. You'll ride through rural landscapes to reach Truc Lam Zen Monastery, a large temple built in 1994 on Phung Hoang mountain above Tuyen Lam Lake, where you explore the spiritual architecture and the setting. From there the route takes you to K'Hor Village, home to an indigenous ethnic minority group whose daily life and traditions you'll learn about, and then to a mushroom-growing village to see how local farmers work the land.
The waterfalls come next: Pongour Falls, the largest in southern Vietnam, where you walk down through big rocks to the base and have around an hour to sit, photograph and rest by the water. Elephant Waterfall, located about 25 km from the city on the Cam Ly river, is accessed from Linh An Pagoda: a Buddhist temple built in 1994 with a 75-meter-tall lady Buddha statue you can walk up to in about five minutes. The pagoda itself is a meditation center with spiritual significance, and the walk up gives views of the surrounding nature.
In the afternoon you'll visit a bamboo craft village to see how local artisans make their living, then stop at a coffee plantation where you taste real coffee mixed with chocolate or smoothies while overlooking mountain views and rural villages. The route passes through Ta Nung Pass and ends at Van Thanh Flower Village, one of Da Lat's largest flower-growing and exporting villages, where you learn how local farmers sustain themselves through floriculture. A local lunch is included, and if you want to ride the cable car at the end (a 10-minute cabin ride through pine forest above the highlands) that's an optional $5 per person.
