The second half pivots to the Mekong Delta, about an hour south. You board a traditional wooden boat and cruise along waterways lined with coconut palms and fruit orchards, listening to live Southern Vietnamese folk music played by local musicians. The boat stops at narrow coconut canals where you switch to a hand-rowed sampan — the kind with a single oarsman standing at the stern — and drift through the quieter countryside. You'll visit a local family home to see how people actually live in the delta, then sit down to a Vietnamese lunch at a riverside restaurant featuring fresh regional dishes. After eating, a walk or bicycle ride through village paths rounds out the afternoon before the drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving around 7:00 PM.
