Cook palov and salad from family recipes in a Tashkent home kitchen.

A private 3-hour cooking class in a Tashkent home where you learn to make 2–3 traditional Uzbek dishes from your host Dilnoza's family recipes, then share the meal you've prepared at a low dining table. The class is hands-on and entirely private. Dilnoza teaches in English or Russian and welcomes you with tea, Uzbek snacks and a ceremonial hand washing before you move to the kitchen. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available if you advise at booking. The menu may shift with the season.

The experience

You arrive at Dilnoza's home in a residential Tashkent neighborhood and begin with a welcome ritual: ceremonial hand washing, green or black tea, and Uzbek snacks like dried fruit compote, kazi (smoked meat) or kurt (cheese). This sets the tone for what comes next: a genuine connection to local hospitality, not a performance. Then you move into her kitchen for the hands-on part, which lasts about 2 hours. Dilnoza teaches you to make a traditional salad of tomato, cucumber, onion and basil in lemon dressing, and palov, the centerpiece dish of meat, rice and vegetables, using recipes passed down through her family.

After cooking, you gather around a traditional low Uzbek dining table to eat together. The meal includes the bread and salad you made, the palov, and a local sweet to finish: halva, pashmak (candy floss) or kazinaki. If Dilnoza's husband and children are home that day, they join you at the table. This is not a staged meal. You're eating in her home, the way her family does. The whole experience runs 3 hours from arrival to the end of the meal.

The class is entirely private (just you and Dilnoza), so the pace and focus stay on what you want to learn. She speaks English or Russian. If you have allergies, dietary restrictions or cooking preferences, let the operator know when you book, and she'll adjust the menu. Public transportation options are nearby if you need them to get there.
