Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Chorsu Bazaar and bake bread

- Join hands-on bread-making workshop
- Bake bread in traditional tandoor oven
- Enjoy fresh bread with honey and kaymak
The experience
The class opens at Chorsu Bazaar, one of Central Asia's oldest and most active markets. You'll wander through rows of stalls with your guide, tasting kurut (dried cheese balls), dried fruits, nuts and freshly baked samsas while learning how vendors and home cooks source ingredients. The bazaar itself is the lesson here: its layout, its rhythms, the way locals shop and the history layered into every corner tell you something real about how Uzbek food works. Your guide explains the cultural weight bread carries in the country, and you'll see the different regional loaves on display, each stamped and shaped in its own way.
Then you move to the hands-on part. You'll roll up your sleeves with a local baker and learn the traditional techniques for shaping and forming dough. The baker shows you how to work the bread, and you shape your own loaf, decorate it, and slap it onto the hot walls of a real tandoor oven. You watch it bake and pull it out warm. The whole process takes place in an actual working setup, not a demo kitchen: the heat, the timing, the way the bread cooks are all part of what you're learning.
You take two freshly baked breads home with you, along with golden mountain honey and rich Uzbek kaymak cream to go with them. The experience runs two to three hours total. Hotel pickup is included, so you don't need to arrange transport to get started.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Russian and Polish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (under 13).
What exactly is kurut, and will I actually taste it at the bazaar?
Kurut is a traditional dried cheese ball, salty and tangy, and yes. You'll sample it along with dried fruits and nuts as you walk through Chorsu Bazaar with your guide. The tastings are part of the market exploration, so you're trying real products vendors sell there.
Do I need any baking experience to join the bread-making class?
No. The class is a hands-on masterclass with a local baker who teaches you traditional Uzbek techniques from scratch. You'll shape, form and decorate your own loaf, then bake it in the tandoor: the baker guides you through each step.
What is a tandoor, and how does the bread actually cook in it?
A tandoor is a traditional clay oven, cylindrical and very hot inside. You slap your shaped dough onto the hot interior walls, where it sticks and bakes. The heat cooks it quickly and gives it a distinctive texture and char. You'll do this yourself as part of the class.
Will hotel pickup work if I'm staying outside central Tashkent?
Hotel pickup is included in the experience. If you're staying at a hotel in Tashkent, the operator will arrange pickup from there. If you're staying elsewhere or have questions about your specific location, confirm with the operator before booking.
Can I bring someone who doesn't want to bake, just to watch and taste?
The experience is built around hands-on participation in the bread-making class. If someone wants to join just for the bazaar walk and tastings, check with the operator about whether that's possible or whether a modified arrangement can be made.
