A private guided hike in Zion National Park lasting six hours, with a guide who teaches canyon formation, wildlife and human history while you walk one or more of three main trails (West Rim to Scouts Lookout, Watchman, or Emerald Pools), then finish with a charcuterie board picnic at the Grotto. The experience

Six hours means the day holds three trail options. The guide focuses on West Rim Trail to Scouts Lookout, Watchman Trail, and Emerald Pools Trail, and can combine portions of each one to match what you want to see and how much elevation you want to climb. When time allows, the route may swing past Weeping Rock, Big Bend, or the Temple of Sinawava: the guide reads the group and the light and adjusts. Because the hike is private, the pace and the stops are yours to shape.

Along the way you learn what made the canyon: the geology, the plants and animals that live in it, and the people who have lived here. The guide also talks about why these parks exist and how to help protect them. Trekking poles are included, and bottled water and snacks come with you on the trail.

After the hike, you gather at the Grotto picnic area for a charcuterie board: cured meats, cheeses, pickled goods, nuts, crackers and spreads. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free versions are available if you request them 48 hours ahead. The picnic is the place to sit and let the canyon settle after the walk.
