Tunnel View, waterfalls, granite cliffs and high-country vistas in one vehicle with your group

A private Hummer or 4x4 SUV tour of Yosemite National Park for up to four guests, with hotel pickup and drop-off, a packed lunch, and a guide who shapes the day around what interests you. The vehicle handles snow and rough roads so you reach viewpoints and trailheads most buses cannot access. Glacier Point is typically closed November through April. Weather or construction may close other highlights, and the operator will show alternative sites instead.

The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your hotel and heads straight into the park. You'll pass through Tunnel View first (the classic vista of Yosemite Valley that appears as you emerge from the tunnel), then stop at Bridalveil Fall, where a short walk from the parking lot leads to the base of the 620-foot cascade. The route takes in Half Dome reflected in the Merced River, El Capitan's granite face and its rock climbers, and Yosemite Falls, where you'll have time for lunch and to walk toward the water. Your guide can adjust the stops based on what you want to see and how much time you want to spend at each place.

Glacier Point opens the high country in late spring through fall, offering one of the park's most expansive views. Sentinel Dome sits at the end of that road and rewards hikers capable of the climb with a 360-degree panorama of the valley. The tour also includes the Pioneer Yosemite History Center in Wawona and the Ahwahnee Hotel, a 1927 National Historic Landmark built from stone, steel and glass on the valley floor. If you're interested in a strenuous hike, the Four Mile Trail descends 3,200 feet from Glacier Point to the valley in 6 to 8 hours round trip: a choice you make on the day, though taking it means skipping the Ahwahnee lunch stop.

The Hummer or premium SUV seats up to four passengers for one price and handles terrain that standard vehicles cannot reach. If neither is available on your date, the operator will substitute a new 4x4 Jeep or van and confirm the swap before your tour. The tour runs 8 to 9 hours and includes hotel pickup and drop-off, bottled water, and your choice of turkey, vegetarian or combination sandwich for lunch.

Top questions

What is Tunnel View and why does the tour start there?

Tunnel View is the classic vista of Yosemite Valley that appears as you emerge from the tunnel on the main park road. The tour begins there because it frames the entire day. You see the valley, Half Dome, El Capitan and the waterfalls all at once before you drive down to explore them up close.

Can I customize the stops on this tour?

Yes. This is a private tour, so you decide the schedule based on your convenience and can tell your guide what interests you most. The operator will adjust the route and time spent at each stop to match your preferences.

Is the hike down from Glacier Point included, or is it optional?

The Four Mile Trail hike is optional. It descends 3,200 feet over 6 to 8 hours round trip and is strenuous. If you choose to hike, you'll bring a picnic lunch with you and won't have time for the Ahwahnee Hotel lunch stop. If you skip the hike, lunch happens at Yosemite Falls.

What happens if Glacier Point or other stops are closed?

Glacier Point is usually closed November through April due to snow. Weather or construction may also close other highlights on any given day. The operator will show you alternative sites instead and do their best to keep the tour full and rewarding.

Do I need to bring my own car seat for children?

Yes. Parents with small children must provide car seats and booster seats as required by California law. Infants from 0 to 1 year must be in a rear-facing car seat in the back seat until they reach 20 pounds. Children 1 to 8 years old (or heavier than 20 pounds) must be in the back seat in either a rear-facing or front-facing car seat, a booster seat, or a regular seat belt depending on their height and weight.

What is included in the tour price?

Hotel pickup and drop-off, bottled water, and lunch (your choice of turkey, vegetarian or combination sandwich) are included. The tour runs 8 to 9 hours. International visitors may owe an additional National Park entrance fee of USD 100 per person, collected at the park.
