The experience
What does it take to go from flour and water to a plate of homemade fettuccine? About two hours and Chef Kayla's hands-on guidance. You'll start by mixing semolina flour, water, olive oil and salt into a workable dough, then knead it until it's smooth. Roll it into thin sheets and slice it into long, delicate ribbons. The fettuccine you'll eat at the end of the class. The work is straightforward. No fancy knife skills or pasta experience needed.
Once your pasta is cut, you'll build the sauce: butter, heavy cream, chicken broth and minced garlic form the base, while Cajun seasoning, paprika, cayenne and black pepper bring the heat. Lemon juice and fresh parsley brighten everything at the finish. You'll learn how to balance bold flavors without overcomplicating things, and pick up practical tips you can use in your own kitchen. The class happens at a local brewery, distillery, craft beer bar or wine bar in Columbus: a relaxed venue where the focus stays on the cooking and the meal.
All ingredients and cooking tools are provided, so you show up ready to work. When your fettuccine is cooked and tossed in the silky sauce, you sit down and eat it. Drinks are available for purchase at the bar if you want them with your meal.
