The drive to Lexington takes 50 minutes from Boston, and the first stop is Lexington Battle Green: the exact spot where British and colonial forces clashed on the morning of April 19, 1775, in what became known as the "shot heard around the world." Your guide walks you through what happened that day and why it still matters, then takes you to Buckman Tavern, where colonists gathered the night before waiting for word that the Redcoats were coming. You'll see the place where Paul Revere was captured during his midnight ride, and walk the Battle Road Trail itself. The route the British took during their retreat from Lexington to Concord, marked by skirmishes that turned the tide of the early war.

The second half of the day shifts to Concord's literary history. You cross the Old North Bridge, where colonists overwhelmed the British regiment guarding it, then have free time to explore Concord's downtown and grab lunch at one of the local restaurants. After lunch, the tour takes you to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery to walk Author's Ridge, where Thoreau, Emerson, Alcott, and Hawthorne are buried. You tour the grounds of Orchard House, Louisa May Alcott's home where she wrote Little Women, and see the Concord School of Philosophy. The final stop is Walden Pond, where you can explore the replica of Henry David Thoreau's cabin before heading back to Boston. The driver will drop you at your hotel or another location of your choice and can offer dinner recommendations if you need them.
